
Connor Callahan
Interim Director of Bands - Platte County R-3 School District
Connor Callahan is currently the Interim Director of Bands for the Platte County R-3 School District. He has been teaching in Platte County since 2021 and he has been teaching since 2015. His duties at Platte County High School include leading the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Pride of Platte County Marching Band, and Music Appreciation while assisting with the Traditions Marching Band and Pep Band. At Platte City Middle School, Callahan teaches the 6th Grade Clarinet and Saxophone class, co-teaches the 7th Grade Woodwinds, and co-teaches the 8th Grade Band.
Before working in Platte County, Callahan worked in the Grandview C-4 School District for five years as the Director of Bands at Grandview Middle School and the Assistant Director of Bands at Grandview High School. He spent his first year teaching in the Carthage R-9 School District as the Assistant Director of Bands. During his tenure in Platte County, Grandview, and Carthage, Callahan’s bands have consistently received Exemplary ratings at MSHSAA Large Group Festival, Jazz Band Festivals, and Marching Band Festivals.
Callahan holds a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master’s of Music in Music Education from Kent State University. He received his Bachelor’s of Education in Music Education from Pittsburg State University. He is currently serving as the All State Jazz Coordinator/President Elect of MOAJE. Callahan is also serving as Vice President of Jazz for the Northwest District of Missouri Music Educators Association. Callahan’s professional affiliations include MOAJE, MBA, MMEA, and NafME. Callahan lives in Platte City with his wife Hillary and his daughters Emma and Ella. Callahan is incredibly excited to continue to work at Platte County R-3 School District with his tremendous students and colleagues!
